Quick Fix - How to look great in your summer clothes

If you are you off on your holidays in the next few week you have probably been watching what you eat for a while now in the hope of looking fabulous on the beach.

Or maybe you have stepped up your exercise efforts.

Or have you just looked in the mirror and wished you had started a few weeks or months ago?

Don’t panic! If you want to look good in your bikini or your skimpy summer dress it’s easier than you think….

Now I wouldn’t normally advocate a quick fix when it comes to exercise, if you really want to see long term results you have to put in the effort and the work.

However there are some tricks you can try to make the most of what you have, help you feel more confident in the way you look and put your best beautiful forward.

1. Posture

We sit at desks all day and spend a lot of time in our cars which is all detrimental to our posture. We slouch and we forget to sit up tall.

Have you ever looked at someone and thought ‘Wow, you actually look like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders!’?

The best part about being on holiday is that not only is it a chance to re-charge and shrug off the stresses of your daily life it is also a chance to be the other you. You know the one who is more relaxed, laughs a bit more and has a good time. This immediately makes you look lighter.

There are other things you can do with your posture too:

  • When you step into that skimpy dress remind yourself to sand up tall. Pull your shoulders back and thrust that chest out. It’s amazing what a difference this simple thing can make.

  • Sucking in your stomach will help but you can't hold it in all day! What you really want to do to maintain this posture is to think about tipping your pelvis a little, tuck your tail bone in and your tummy will look flatter.

  • Imagine that there is a piece of string that is running all the way through your body coming out at the crown of your head, stand and walk as if someone is pulling the string towards the sky. Hold your head up and look proud of your body.

2. Wear the most flattering clothes

Wear clothes that are naturally thinning and flattering. Clothes that are all one colour, especially if they are a darker colour, tend to make you look more slender.

When you are choosing that bikini or summer dress pick something that fits well; if it’s too tight, you will create unflattering bulges, and if it’s too loose it can make you look larger than you really are. Here are some other tips:

  • Avoid horizontal stripes, as they are known for making you look larger than you actually are. Opt for vertical stripes, which are slimming, instead.

  • Elaborate details around your problems areas highlight the very area you want to hide.

  • Wear high heel with that dress! They will make you look even slimmer.

3. Think about how you do your hair

Putting your hair halfway up or in a loose bun can help elongate your neck and can make you look thinner.

If your hair is in a tight bun or ponytail, it can make your face and neck look a bit severe, a few strands of hair around your face will create a nice soft look that can make you look thinner.

4. Think beautiful

You are on holiday so remember that you will probably never see these people again!

Adjust your mind-set and look for your best bits, if you have a small waist wear clothes that emphasise it and show it off with pride.

If your legs are your best asset get that short skirt out and strut your stuff.

Every time you get dressed look in the mirror adjust your posture and give yourself a big smile. You are beautiful you just need to remember to show the world that you are.

I’m currently on the beach, shoulders back big smile, I hope you enjoy your summer holdiday too!
