Are you fit?

Have you ever noticed that when you look at fitness options, a local class, a local personal trainer, an online programme or anything in between there is always a picture of a ripped young model or even the trainer themselves looking lean and glowing?

Surely there is more to this than aesthetics?

Is that what you believe to mean you are fit?

Most of the women I meet are realistic enough to realise that they CAN look and feel amazing without aspiring to look like a fitness model.

They simply want to feel better, fit into the clothes they love, have energy and be a good role model to their children by choosing good food and exercising regularly.

Many of them do it because they know when they do they feel better, the fog is clearer, they are happier, more alive and a lot nicer to be around!

To look at what fitness actually means to you and see beyond looking like a fitness model I have some questions for you:

Do you have enough energy to get through the day?

If the answer is no, try to think of a time when you did have energy, at this time did you get more sleep? Eat a more balanced diet? Get more exercise? Drink more water?

What could you change now to give you more energy?

Do you exercise as regularly as you would like?

To answer this you need to define how often you should exercise, the NHS guidelines suggest that 150 minutes (30 minutes x 5) of moderate activity plus some strength training every week.

Do you do this? Perhaps you have a very sedentary job and you sit for most of the day. Perhaps you are actually very active and you walk your dog daily but don't do any other training. Perhaps you attend an exercise class regularly but you wonder if this is enough.

We are all starting from a different point so you should consider how much exercise is right for you and how much time you have to do it.

Think about what you would like to do and ask yourself if you meet that aim?

How much exercise would make you feel fit?

If you were to exercise more regularly what would this give you? What would you gain?

Do you make healthy choices when you eat?

Think about your last meal or snack, was it a healthy choice? Did you give it any thought or was it just what was convenient at the time?

What could you change about your eating habits to make you feel healthier?

Are your moods balanced or do you feel irritable on a regular basis?

Most of us have learned through experience that when we eat well and exercise regularly our moods are better. We deal with stress more easily and we are generally calmer and happier.

Is this true for you? Have you noticed a link?

Do you feel good about yourself?

When you are buying clothes do you feel comfortable in the things you try on or do you feel bad about your body image?

Often when I talk to client about goals, it’s not a fitness model body they are after it is simply one that will look good in the clothes they want to buy.

When you think about the way you look what is it you really want to see?

Which of the above questions is the most important to you?

This is the most important question of all, because it tells you where your priorities lie. It tells you what fit and healthy means to you.

I have limited spaces available for evening client at the moment and just a couple of regular spot for daytime clients.

If you are interested in talking to me about health coaching and personal training make sure you get in touch soon.

I would love to know your answers to my questions, make sure you hit reply or share in the group.
